  • Pets allowed for a $40 fee per night, plus $15 for a second pet (this and Lafayette Cottage are our only pet friendly accommodations). The Carriage House has direct outdoor access for the comfort and needs of your pet. Located in the old carriage house right next to the Inn entry on Smith St, it has its own special charm and is ideal for those who don’t want to do a lot of stairs.

Lafayette Cottage is our lovingly renovated 2-bedroom extended-stay retreat nestled on Main Street in the heart of Historic Yorktown, Virginia and next door to Hornsby House Inn.

Its prime location is just a short stroll to the York River waterfront with its cozy beaches, scenic waterfront trails, and diverse restaurants, museums, and shops.

 Lafayette Cottage offers a serene home base for immersing yourself in the beautiful ambiance of the Village of Yorktown or the more vibrant culture of the Historic Triangle – Williamsburg, Jamestown, and beyond.  Whether you are a couple or family seeking a relaxing, fun get-a-way or simply a history buff eager to explore, Lafayette Cottage will meet your needs.

Crafted from materials dating to the late 1700s, this charming cottage features original hardwood floors, intricate moldings, and authentic architectural details, blending colonial ambiance with thoughtfully updated amenities.

Its 2 bedrooms are on the second floor – a Master with a King and a Guest with a day bed and trundle/2 single beds. An enclosed large Sun Porch, a fully equipped kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, and a washer and dryer in the basement give you all the comforts of “home.”

Private Walking Tour of Yorktown – $55

Guided by Michael Moore, noted local historian and raconteur.

Relive the significant history of Yorktown in a special, private walking tour starting on Main Street and ending at The Hornsby House Inn with a glass of wine and an opportunity to ask more questions of your guide.

1-hour tour. Booking needs a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Confirmation will be emailed upon booking.

Cost of $55 is for one person.


Model T “History Safari” Tour for 2 – $190

Set off from the Inn on your history adventure through the streets of Yorktown in our electric powered Model T with Michael Moore, a noted local historian and raconteur, who with Maureen Wiese, owns Hampton Roads Tours.

During this private tour, you’ll “recall” the historic streets and backways of The Village of Yorktown. Learn about the last major battle of the American Revolution, Lord Cornwallis, the Marquis de Lafayette, and Generals Washington and Rochambeau. Hear about the Peninsula Campaign of the American Civil War, and Generals McClellan and Magruder. This is a memorable way to explore and learn about the special importance of this historic town. Tour concludes at the Inn for a glass of wine and an opportunity to ask more questions of your guide.
