For a small village we have excellent restaurants within walking distance from Hornsby House Inn. Be sure to try the delicious seafood for which this area is known and let the calming views of the York River wash all your cares away.

- Carrot Tree Kitchens: A well-loved staple in Yorktown and Williamsburg for homemade cakes (carrot and almond are our favs!) and lunch (try their sandwiches, wraps, and chicken, ham, pimiento, spinach orzo, or marinated carrot salads)! Owned by long-time friends of the Innkeeper.
- Umi Sushi: Small husband and wife owned eatery with excellent fresh sushi, sashimi and rolls, plus some Korean dishes.
- Ben & Jerry’s: Original and non-dairy ice creams in cones, cups, or take out pints! Enjoy a sweet treat as you explore Riverwalk Landing!
- Mobjack Coffee Roasters & Petite Cafe: This charming coffee shop in the Cole Digges House c 1726 a block down Main St. from the Inn is owned by our neighbors. They offer expertly roasted coffees (the Inn serves their Deadrise every morning), teas, wine, beer, baked goods, sandwiches and more. It’s perfect for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon pick-me-up while exploring the historic village or just out for a walk.
- Little York Confectionery, Mobjack’s nostalgic candy shop right next door in the Somerwell House c 1690, where you can enjoy ice cream, house-made chocolates, candies, and sweets!

History
Museums
Yorktown offers a wealth of history having been critical in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars as well as a center for working watermen. There are numerous historical sites and museums in the area. Here are just a few:

- American Revolution Museum at Yorktown: Tells the story of our nation’s founding in ways that the history comes alive. Indoor galleries feature period artifacts, immersive environments and films, including “The Siege of Yorktown,” with dramatic special effects. The outdoor area portrays the life of a soldier and of a period farm.
- Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center: The orientation point for your visit to the Yorktown Battlefield, site of the last major battle of the Revolutionary War. The museum focuses on the 1781 Siege of Yorktown and the Battle of the Capes.
- Watermen’s Museum: Located on the waterfront, just upriver from Riverwalk Landing, is the museum co-founded by the Innkeeper’s mother to preserve the heritage of the Chesapeake Bay Watermen. You’ll find historical displays, exhibits, hands-on demonstrations, and an in-depth look into the trade. The gift shop features a variety of nautically themed items and more.
